Weekly Update – 1/8/2018

This past week was a pretty rough one. Between the snow and feeling under the weather, it was tough to get motivated or feel accomplished.

Monday

Monday was our first real day back to work after the snow.  The roads were still bad, so I opted for 2 miles on the treadmill at home.

Tuesday

Roads were still bad on Tuesday, so again, treadmill for 2 miles at home.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I had a doctor’s appointment, which set the day off on a crazy foot.  Since Michael and I have been carpooling, and he had to work late, I worked late.  We had some errands to run after work, and by the time we got home, I was NOT feeling a workout.  I ended up doing a ton of housework when we got home so at least I was somewhat active!

Thursday

Thursday didn’t bring a workout either.  I stayed active and met my step goal.

Friday

Even though I felt awful on Friday, I got in 2 miles on the treadmill when I got home from work.

Saturday

On Saturday, I hung out with my mom and helped her get rid of clothes.  Between her TWO closets – we got rid of 3 trash bags worth of clothes.  We watched the Eagles game and was glad to see them advance in the playoffs.  I didn’t feel well on Saturday either.

Sunday

On Sunday, I got up and planned on completing a virtual 5k that I had signed up for.  OMG, it was terrible.  I felt so awful, walked the whole thing….slowly.  Between being sick, and some new meds I started, it was awful.  I spent most of the day relaxing.  But I did get the ornaments of the tree (I know, I know).

How was your week? How often do you clean out your closet?

Race Recap: Virtual Reindeer Challenge 5k & 7k 2017

This race was scheduled for 12/2 but I already had a commitment that day.  My mom and I always go to a Christmas craft show at the local high school.  I was super bummed out because I love Road Rage Events races.  They hold them out at Mount Trashmore and they are always nice, small, local races.  I was super excited when I found out they had a virtual option for this race!

Packet Pickup and Expo

Since this was a virtual race, no packet pick-up and expo for me!  I received the package in the mail with my shirts, bib, medals, etc.  They ended up mailing them out late, I had already completed the race(s).

Race Day Conditions/Attire

Since the challenge for this race event was to complete a 5k followed by a 7k in the same morning, I tried to closely mimic that.  That being said, I completed the 5k on my treadmill before the craft show, and the 7k outside in our neighborhood.  It was a chilly day, so I wore a few layers and fought through a few sprinkles.

Race Time

The 5k went smoothly on the treadmill.  I took it easy, mostly walking, knowing I needed to complete a 7k later in the day.  I completed the 5k in 52:46.

The 7k was a little more difficult.  I love the distance of a 7k.  Our new neighborhood is about a half mile around, about .56 miles, so I knew I needed to do about 8 laps.  Its a really boring loop when you do that many.  It sprinkled for the last three laps, which made it a little cold.  I completed the 7k in 1:17:21.

Have you ever done two races in one day?

Race Recap: Alumni 5k 2017

This was my first virtual race ever!  This race was back in November.  I love this race, it was the first race I ever did, so I love any opportunity I have to complete it.  We were having a housewarming party for our new home and I wasn’t able to go. I was glad to see they had a virtual option.

Packet Pickup and Expo

No packet pickup for me, since it was virtual.  I got the package in the mail a few days before the race was to take place.

Race Day Conditions/Attire

I completed this race on the treadmill, so no special considerations for attire or race day conditions.

Race Time

It took me a few weeks after the race to actually complete this – oops!  I did this race after work one day and was completely exhausted, but knew I needed to get it done.  I walked this one and finished in 55:12.

After Party

Have you ever done a virtual race? How did you like it? Do you think they “count” as an actual race?
