So some things happened….

Did you guys think I disappeared forever? I know, felt like that to me too.

A lot of big things have happened since I last checked in with you guys:

  • We closed on our new house
  • We sold our old house
  • I had my first DNS
  • Hurt my foot – diagnosis TBD
  • I got a (temporary) employee

First off! We closed a chapter of our lives in the old house and have moved into the home we built! Here are a few pictures ūüôā

I had my first DNS for a race when I injured my foot.¬† I had signed up for the race for Memorial Day weekend in late April.¬† The week before Memorial Day I started having pain in my forefoot on the top of my foot.¬† An X-ray reveal no fracture, but it hurt too bad and I decided to not do the race.¬† Still picked up my t-shirt though ūüôā

I have a doctor’s appointment next week to get another look at it.¬† My foot had started feeling better, but in the last week it started hurting again.¬† I have a lot of swelling on the top of my foot again.¬† I’ll let you all know how it turns out!

This is a lot of why you haven’t heard from me.¬† I haven’t been able to do much of anything in terms of working out.¬† No yoga, running, walking, anything.¬† Once I figure out what is going on, I want to come up with a game plan of what I can safely do.

I have an employee!¬† Well, she’s a summer intern, but she’s fabulous and I want to keep her forever.¬† She is going into her senior year at Randolph Macon and she’s such a sweet girl.

So what’s coming up?¬† We have a trip to Seattle coming up and a trip to San Diego. What are the must do places to see and eat?

Weekly Update – 4/17/2017 & A Birthday

Monday – Thursday

The beginning of the week was pretty uneventful.  I got in a treadmill workout on Thursday of 2 miles, but otherwise, we spend the week doing chores and getting stuff done after work.  We have about 5 weeks left until we move, so there is a lot to be done.

My company is nice enough to let us have the day off on our birthday, so I spent mine shopping, getting free Starbucks, watching Netflix, etc.  I got in a good workout at yoga in the morning Рnot a bad way to start out my 30s!

When Michael got home, we went out to dinner and celebrated.

Saturday was my big party day.¬† My mom and husband planned a party for me at her house.¬† We had tacos – my favorite – and cake pops for dessert.¬† It was really good to see everyone – I have some friends that I don’t get to see as often as I like.¬† It was a great time with family and friends – they are the most important things in our lives!

On Sunday, we went to pick out furniture and area rugs for our new house.  It was a busy day, but we got a lot done.

How was your weekend? What do you enjoy doing for your birthday?

Weekly Update – 4/10/2017

There wasn’t much going on last week¬†– hence the lack of an update.¬† This is a really short one at that…¬† Michael got sick with the flu, then pneumonia, and I spent most of my week taking care of him and the house.

On a more positive note, we got an offer on our townhouse that we are selling and we have a ratified contract! We are excited and will close on our current home 5 days after we close on the new house!

In the middle of all that, I did run a 5k.  Recap to come!

Weekly Update – 4/3/2017

This wasn’t a great workout week, but it was a really nice week otherwise.¬† I had some great quality time with Michael and got out of the house and had a blast.

Decided that since it was warmer weather out, we’d get in 2 miles outside.¬† We walked around my mom’s neighborhood (its a mile around).

Got in 2 miles on the treadmill.

I was exhausted from a long day on Wednesday and wasn’t feeling well, so I decided to skip¬†yoga.

We had our date night on Thursday and watched a movie on Netflix.

We had a showing on Friday night, so we got out of the house and went to Mexican.

On Saturday, we had to be out of the house for a few showings, so we decided to drive up to Richmond and get our rings cleaned and get some lunch.  We found a cool place called Supper! and had some great salads.

We came home in the early afternoon, and then went out to Mermaid Winery with some friends and had a great night.

After church on Sunday, we grabbed some lunch and did our grocery shopping.  We stopped by the house to measure for a fridge and got to see the progress.  We then went to Home Depot and bought said fridge!

We also had to file a police report because someone decided to shoot a BB gun through my taillight.

How was your week? Do you like going to wineries?

Weekly Update – 2/20/2017

I did only moderately better with my workouts this past week, but some progress is better than no progress!¬† I’m hoping my new shoes will give me some added motivation this coming week…

I covered Monday on last week’s post.

After work we hit up the gym for a workout.  I got in 2.25 miles on the treadmill and Michael hit the weights.  I was sore from my massage on Sunday Рshe really dug into my back and my legs, and I was feeling it!

Yoga was great on Wednesday.¬† I didn’t get my normal “spot” in class, but that was actually a good thing.¬† Let me step out of my comfort zone.¬† Jaye and I talked about music for class before and I gave her a list of music I thought she’d like.¬† I’m excited to see if she uses any of it for class!

Thursday was an interesting day.¬† We discovered the weather stripping around my windshield was coming off, so we took it to the shop.¬† Michael ended up having to work really late, so I got a ride to pick up my car from a coworker of mine.¬† I didn’t know what time to expect Michael home…thought he’d only be a little late – and Thursday night is usually date night.¬† I should have capitalized on the free time to fit in a workout, but I didn’t.

On Friday we had Mexican food with my brother in law.

We had 2 showings on our house on Saturday, so I had a busy morning.¬† I got up, did a very quick 1.5 miles on the treadmill at home, then got to cleaning.¬† I consider vacuuming, deep cleaning bathrooms, etc as a very good workout! We went to a local running store to get some new shoes.¬† Michael got evaluated and fitted and ended up with a pair of Brooks.¬† I decided to go back to my Saucony Guides.¬† I’m looking forward to my first workout with them!

We grabbed lunch at YNot Pizza.  They have fantastic chopped salads there.  Since it was a beautiful 70-something degree day, we ate outside.  We went down to the harbor and walked around and did some great people watching.

We wrapped up the evening with a Netflix movie.  I convinced Michael to watch Amadeus, and he loved it!

Sunday morning we went to church.¬† Afterwards, we had lunch with my dad and stepmom, then drove out to a model home that is the same floorplan as our new house.¬† They have seen our new house in progress, but haven’t seen a fully decked out model.¬† They loved it! Afterward, we went to the new house and walked around.¬† I snapped a few pictures.¬† The house is really coming together!

What shoes are you currently running in?

Do you consider cleaning the house a workout? What about yard work?

Weekly Update – 1/23/2016

This week was good and fairly relaxing.¬† We’ve had a lot of stress recently and being at home and just relaxing has been really good.¬† He probably didn’t relax a ton on his trip, but I sure did while he was gone!

Didn’t feel like heading to the gym, so I got 2 miles in on the treadmill at home.

On Tuesday morning, we had a framing tour of the new house with our builder.  We got to walk around, confirm that all the options in the various rooms were correct (electric, plumbing, cable, etc).

The gym was INSANE. Absolute madness.¬† I found a treadmill and got in 2 miles.¬† I was actually planning on doing strength training, but people had equipment everywhere and I couldn’t find anything I wanted.

We had some major traffic issues on Wednesday.¬† By the time I left work, I knew there would be no way I’d make it to yoga on time. Michael and I spent some good quality time together.

Thursday night was an errand day after work, as Michael was going to be leaving to go to Vegas on Friday.  We watched some recorded news shows and went to bed early.

Michael left on Friday to go to Vegas with a buddy of his.¬† While its nice to have “me” time, I always miss him a lot when he’s gone.¬† My stepdad and I (finally) went to see Rogue One.¬† It was fantastic!

I allowed myself to sleep in on Saturday.  I got up and hit the treadmill for 2 miles.  I grabbed a quick shower, got a text from my realtor that someone wanted to see the house, and I had to spring into action and clean up the house.

Mom and I had already planned to go shopping for a baby shower we are attending and grab some lunch.  Since the showing was in the afternoon and I had to be out of the house, we did some more shopping (target, grocery shopping, etc) and then hung out at her house and did a puzzle for a little while.  I vegged out for the rest of the night.

Slept in again on Sunday and got up and did another 2 miles on the treadmill.¬† Got a shower, took my time getting ready, and picked up some jersey mikes for lunch.¬† I legit spent the rest of the day watching Netflix – all the things I knew Michael wouldn’t want to watch.

What do you do when your significant other is away for a trip? Are you able to sleep in, or does your body always wake you up at the same time every day?

Weekly Update – 1/9/2017

This was a pretty good week despite the leftover snow.  We made it to the gym a few times, listed the house, and had a showing!

We had abbreviated hours on Monday due to all the snow and the lack of clearing on the roads.¬† My husband and I worked from home for a little while before heading in.¬† It was a pretty relaxed day, as I don’t expect many people were deciding to go to the bank in all the snow.

After work, we just relaxed and took it easy.  The gym parking lot is notoriously bad after snow and they were closing early.

Our current house is on the market!  Hopefully it will sell quickly. Tuesday was a rough day at work.  After work, we hit up the gym and I did 2 miles on the treadmill.

On Wednesday, I went to yoga after work.¬† I know you aren’t necessary supposed to pay attention to the music in yoga, but the music was really great this class! I’m starting to really feel where I’m tight and feel a noticeable difference after class.

Thursday night ended up being a night out with my dad, stepmom and sister.  Thursday was supposed to be date night for Michael and I, but sometimes you have to divert plans to spend time with family.

We went to get Mexican food on Friday night and it was yum!

We got up Saturday morning and went to the gym.  We had a house showing, so it was a good way to spend the time we had to be out of the house.  Got in 3 miles on the treadmill. We got some grocery shopping done, as well as some chores around the house.

On Sunday we tried out a new church.¬† We went to my in-law’s house for a late lunch afterward.¬† We came home and vegged out most of the evening.

How was your week? Where is your favorite place to go eat with your family?
