Weekly Update – 3/13/17

This was a pretty good week, although it was pretty cold.  I guess winter isn’t ready to let go yet.  This week also brought my second race for the year.

Monday

Michael had to work late on Monday, and with it being cold out and I was tired….I didn’t want to go to the gym.

Tuesday

We went to the gym on Tuesday after work.  I got in 2 miles on the treadmill.

Wednesday

Yoga was great on Wednesday.  Class was unusually full.  She really worked our hips this class, and it felt fantastic.

Thursday

Date night! I was looking forward to this, because I feel like Michael and I don’t get to spend a lot of quality time during the week.

Friday

Friday was moving day at work.  I moved to another building.  We have a “campus” at work.  My reporting structure has changed over the years, and they are moving me in the same building as my new boss. I’m not really happy about the move. I have been in this building for a few years and I have a great seat by a window.

I left early on Friday to go pick up my race packet for the Shamrock 8k on Saturday. More on that in my race recap!

Saturday

Saturday was the Shamrock 8k.  Recap to come – but good news, I didn’t get rained on till I walked back to my car to leave!

I came home to some BEAUTIFUL flowers that Michael got me.  Michael and I spent the rest of the day relaxing, watching TV, getting laundry done, etc.

Sunday

After church on Sunday, we went out to Cracker Barrel with Michael’s parents.  It was a nice time! We even got some snow in the morning, which was beautiful.

Has winter returned where you are? What did you do for St. Patrick’s Day?

Weekly Update – 3/6/2017

The work week was pretty uneventful, but we did have a nice weekend with family.  Its getting easier to get motivated now that I can see an end to winter.

Monday

I was exhausted all day on Monday.  We had a nice evening in.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we headed to the gym.  I did a quick 2.10 miles on the treadmill.

Wednesday

Went to yoga on Wednesday like planned.  Class was good, but I modified to easier poses.  For some reason the knee that I fell on last year was bothering me.

Thursday

We had date night on Thursday and went out for Mexican food.  I’m really enjoying our weekly date nights.  Its nice to intentionally spend time together. We spent some time planning our trip to Seattle.

Friday

My brother was in town for his birthday, and to pick up his new sweet Corgi pup.  Kona was the highlight of the night at my mom’s house.  We had a nice time celebrating with family.

Saturday

On Saturday, I had to work for a bit in the morning.  After I wrapped up my work, we headed to the gym and I got in 2 miles on the treadmill.  My time on the treadmill felt really good.  Lots of energy. We met my brother up at our new house and got to show him around.  We have a driveway and sidewalk now!

house

We had some errands to run that afternoon, so we did all those items before heading to my dad’s for my brother’s birthday celebration there.

Sunday

After church on Sunday, we had a pretty lazy day.  Did some laundry, grocery shopping, food prep, and watched lots of HGTV.  I even took a pretty nice nap, since Daylight Savings Time took its toll on me.

Have you adjusted to the time change? Do you have any pets?

Weekly Update – 1/9/2017

This was a pretty good week despite the leftover snow.  We made it to the gym a few times, listed the house, and had a showing!

Monday

We had abbreviated hours on Monday due to all the snow and the lack of clearing on the roads.  My husband and I worked from home for a little while before heading in.  It was a pretty relaxed day, as I don’t expect many people were deciding to go to the bank in all the snow.

After work, we just relaxed and took it easy.  The gym parking lot is notoriously bad after snow and they were closing early.

Tuesday

Our current house is on the market!  Hopefully it will sell quickly. Tuesday was a rough day at work.  After work, we hit up the gym and I did 2 miles on the treadmill.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, I went to yoga after work.  I know you aren’t necessary supposed to pay attention to the music in yoga, but the music was really great this class! I’m starting to really feel where I’m tight and feel a noticeable difference after class.

Thursday

Thursday night ended up being a night out with my dad, stepmom and sister.  Thursday was supposed to be date night for Michael and I, but sometimes you have to divert plans to spend time with family.

Friday

We went to get Mexican food on Friday night and it was yum!

Saturday

We got up Saturday morning and went to the gym.  We had a house showing, so it was a good way to spend the time we had to be out of the house.  Got in 3 miles on the treadmill. We got some grocery shopping done, as well as some chores around the house.

Sunday

On Sunday we tried out a new church.  We went to my in-law’s house for a late lunch afterward.  We came home and vegged out most of the evening.

How was your week? Where is your favorite place to go eat with your family?

Weekly Update – 12/26/2016

This week was such a wonderful, relaxing time off. I absolutely love spending time with family and relaxing and forgetting all about the stresses of life.  I hope your holiday season was the same!

Monday

Omg, its a miracle….I went to the gym.

1 Mile treadmill, 800 meter row.  Followed by 3 rounds of 10 each:

  • TRX row
  • TRX squats

Afterward, we had some relax time, then ran some errands.  Then we went to see Passengers.  Great movie – highly recommend it.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, we went BACK to the gym.  Another miracle.  Did 2 miles on the treadmill. I really don’t remember what I did the rest of the day!

Wednesday-Thursday

On Wednesday we went to visit my brother and his wife in northern VA.  We went to the new MGM Grand casino in Maryland, ate some great food, spent time with them.  It was such a great time, I completely ignored my phone – hence my lack of pictures from anything we did with them!

Friday

We left my brother’s house Friday morning and went to see my husband’s aunt.  She cooked us a great Monte Cristo sandwich and we spent some quality time.  We spent the night in a hotel on Friday night rather than fighting DC traffic to get home.

Saturday

We took our time getting up on Sunday.  We had breakfast at Bob Evans before hitting the road.  We both crashed when we go home before the NYE festivities.  We had a great time at my dad and stepmom’s house.  We ate lots of wonderful food, played blackjack, watched the NYE special, and played that whipped cream in the face game.

Sunday

On Sunday, we slept in, did some chores and started cleaning up the house.  We also went furniture shopping, found stuff we loved and put our living room furniture on layaway!

How was your holiday? Did you have any time off? Do you ever “unplug” and put your electronic devices away?

Weekly Update – 12/19/2016 and Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a great time with your family and friends.  It was a pretty busy week but a very good one!

Monday

Monday after work was my last push to finish all my Christmas shopping.  Got that done in record time!

Tuesday

Tuesday was pretty uneventful.  Michael and I started watching “White Christmas” on Netflix…and promptly fell asleep!

Wednesday

Wednesday was a busy day after work.  We had a party for Tech Services (my dept), then I went to an ornament exchange party at my mom’s house.  The party at work was nice – we had alcoholic beverages and Buffalo Wild Wings, so you can’t go wrong there.

The party at mom’s was fun, but I wasn’t really into being social.  Normally I stay after to help cleanup, but as soon as Dirty Santa was over, I left.

Thursday

Thursday was our big family dinner for my stepfamily.  About 30 of us squeeeeeze into my mom’s house. Here are a few pictures from the night.

Friday

Friday was our Christmas celebration with my dad and stepmom. They gave us some money toward furniture for our new house! We will definitely get some use out of that!

Saturday

On Saturday we had a pretty chill day, got some last minute grocery shopping done.  We went to church for Christmas eve service with my mom and stepdad.

Sunday

On Christmas morning, we slept in, had coffee and chocolate chip pancakes, and exchanged gifts.  Mom and Ken and my in-laws came over later in the day.

I’m spoiled rotten.

Merry Christmas, ya’ll!

Weekly Update – 7/18/2016

Finally got back to the gym three times this week and it was wonderful!  I realize that my stress levels are so much better when I consistently work out 🙂

Monday

Finally made it back to yoga class!  It was a little tough to come back after so much time off, but felt really good to get back to my practice and back to a routine.

Tuesday

Gym for the second night in a row! Score! Just did a quick 1.25 mile walk on the treadmill.  No need to rush into anything…

Wednesday

Back to yoga on Wednesday.  My hamstrings had gotten very tight and they got a good stretching this class.

Thursday

On Thursday we went to my mom’s house for dinner to visit with some family that was in town from PA.  As a special surprise, we got to also see my brother in law and my nephew.

Friday

On Friday, we just got some Chinese food for dinner and watched COPS.  We lead such exciting lives, I know.

Saturday

On Saturday, Michael let me sleep in and he did the yard! (Normally my responsibility) I slept through the whole thing, didn’t even hear him do it.  It was such a nice surprise.  We bummed around in the morning, then went to the Virginia Aquarium!  I haven’t been since I was a kid, and it was a nice thing to do on such a hot day! I’m ptetty sure it was literally 1oo degrees on Saturday.

Sunday

After church on Sunday, we did our chores for the week, but also got in some good R&R.

How was your week? When was the last time you went to an aquarium?

Weekly Update – 6/13/16

Despite another pretty crazy week at work, I was able to have a pretty good weekend and spend time with family.

Monday

Monday was a late night at work.  Afterward, we had to pick up one of the cars from the shop (just an oil change).  Since we worked so late, I had already missed yoga, so I took the opportunity to get some errands done.  My nephew turns one on Wednesday, and we are attending his birthday party over the weekend, so I went and got him some clothes for his birthday.  Why are baby clothes so cute?! I wanted to buy the entire store out.

Tuesday

Work on Tuesday was a much different day than expected.  I was told in the morning that I would be moving cubicles, and by 1pm, my computer was at my new desk.  It took me another almost 2 hours to get settled into my new spot. Its a great spot, I have a window seat (floor to ceiling windows), so I get a lot of natural light.  Its also a lot more private than my old spot!

Wednesday

Michael worked late on Wednesday.  Since I wasn’t able to see my mom on Tuesday (her actual birthday), I went to see her on Wednesday.  She ended up roping me into helping her make a double batch of chocolate chip cookies, rice crispy treats and a few other things. We had dinner together, which was really nice.

Thursday

On Thursday night we met with the sales agent at the neighborhood we are considering buying in.  We went through all the options we thought we might be interested in.  It was a really great exercise.  Its a really cool but really scary process at the same time! Once we figure out if this is something we are going to do, I’ll share more about the process.

Friday

I was pooped when Friday came.  It had been a long week, and we are gearing up for the biggest week of the year for us, because we do our major conversion of the bank we purchased.  We stayed in after work and watched a movie and ate Chinese food.

Saturday

We drove up to Stuart’s Draft for my nephew’s first birthday party! It was a barnyard theme, complete with wagon rides, a petting zoo, and lots of fun!

Love the farm theme on all the food

These were almost too cute to eat!

My Aunt Lisa dressed up as a cow and driving a tractor.  She was saying “mooooooooove over!”

untitled5

We smashed cake all over him, because he had no idea what to do with it.  It was adorable.

Sunday

After church responsibilities, we ran a few errands around town, then finished up chores for the weekend.  We’ll probably be working the next 12 days straight, so we won’t have a lot of time to focus on housework!

How was your week? Do you like house shopping?
