Weekly Update – 1/30/2017

This week was a pretty good one.  I tried to make some time to de-stress and reduce my anxiety, as I’ve had a few anxiety attacks at work recently.  Working out consistently has been good, but I’m trying hard to find balance throughout everything in my life.

Monday

Michael came home around 2 am Monday morning.  I quietly snuck off to work, so I didn’t get to see him until I came home from work.  I skipped a workout so that we could catch up and spend some quality time together.

Tuesday

Hit the gym for 2 miles on the treadmill.  My plantar fasciitis said “hello” again after the workout.  Guess I need to get hardcore about PT again.

Wednesday

Yoga was so amazing and yet so hard.  We focused on hip openers and lengthening our hamstring and calves.  Ouch. But, totally needed it.

Thursday

Date night with my hubby. We went to Red Robin and had a nice evening.

Friday

We had Mexican food with my brother in law.  Always a favorite of mine!

Saturday

Since I had a 5k on Sunday, and they last second cancelled race day pickup, I had to drive to a neighboring city to pick up my race packet. Packet pickup went well, then we went to Whole Foods and had an omelet.

We came home, I got ready for the baby shower I was attending, and Michael went to hang out with his brother. The shower was for the wife of a childhood friend of mine.  She’s sweet and their baby boy is so loved already!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching COPS.

Sunday

Game Day 5k! Recap to come. After the race, I came home, got a shower, and ate the sub I had picked up on the way home.  Michael ended up working (an emergency came up), so I watched Finding Dory on Netflix (LOVED IT).  We had made a garlic parmesan chicken dish in the crock pot, so we had that as we watched the Super Bowl.

We went to bed early and missed all the excitement in the game, but I didn’t really care who won, so I wasn’t that upset 🙂

How was your weekend? Did you enjoy the Super Bowl?

Weekly Update – 2/1/16

I felt pretty good about my workouts this week.  I’m starting to feel more core tighten up (thanks yoga) and I feel like I’m starting to lose a bit of weight.  While my ultimate goal is to be healthy, I do need to lose some weight, so I’m happy to see that its starting to come off.

Monday

Yoga with Jaye.  I felt pretty strong in my flows, and I feel like I’ve been better about being more aware of my breath.  However, my balance was severely off last night and I struggled a lot with that.

I’ve been practicing yoga for about 2 years now, and its still amazing to me how much I learn each class.

Tuesday

I was so unmotivated to go to the gym on Tuesday.  Work has been a bit difficult recently and its been quite draining.  We went anyway.  I got a 5k in on the treadmill.

Michael ran his best time yet for a 5k – around 42 minutes.  He’s going to do so well on his first 5k in April.  He keeps telling me he wants a good first PR.  🙂  I told him anything will be a PR, but he’s determined and I love it!

Wednesday

I jumped on the treadmill and got a quick .75 miles in before yoga.  It was a small class, which I prefer.  Jaye was experimenting with a new warmup…not really a fan, but hey, its yoga, so I went with the flow.  Haha – get it, go with the flow? Flow yoga? Anyone?

Ok that wasn’t that funny.

Thursday

Even though Michael was ready for a rest day, I wasn’t.  Got in a 5k on the treadmill at the gym.

Friday

Hit up the gym after work for 2.3 miles.  It was my 5th day straight without a rest day, so I didn’t feel the need to push it.

Saturday

Saturday was a complete bum day.  Well, not complete.  Got a lot of laundry and housework done. It was nice to have a day at home to watch HGTV and catch up on stuff around the house.

Sunday

Sunday was the Game Day 5k.  Recap to come.  I will say it is the COLDEST race I’ve ever done.  I stayed cold for the rest of the day. We did put a deposit down on a lot to potentially build a house later this year! That’s exciting 🙂 Afterward, we went to my dad’s house to watch the SuperBowl.

How was your week?  Did you race this weekend?
