September 2016 Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #22)

I say this every time: I know this is outside of my normal fitness/running blogging, but hey – its my blog, and I want to blog about my awesome clothes!

stit

Here’s how it works: You set up a style profile and you receive a box with 5 items in it.  You can choose the frequency with which you set up the box …once a month, every other month, etc.  You pay $20 to receive a box.  If you keep anything, that $20 goes toward your purchase.  If you keep all 5 items, you get a discount!  They send you anything from jewelry, to clothes to handbags. They’ve even added SHOES to the mix! If you don’t want to keep an item, they have an envelope to send them back.

What I love about this is that I get a stylist that looks at my style profile and picks out items just for ME.  You can even link to a pinterest board so they can get inspiration and a better look into what you like.

*Sorry for the awful sideways pictures.  I kept fighting with WordPress and it was not letting me rotate them!

Item Number 1 –  Franco Sarto Edaline Ankle Strap Bootie ($149)

Sorry, no picture!

I had specifically asked my stylist for some cute fall booties, and she didn’t disappoint! These were exactly what I had in mind.  However, the heel was a little high on them, and I really couldn’t see myself being comfortable wearing them.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 – Pixley Ashton Crochet Lace Kimono ($48)

untitled1

I hadn’t even told my stylist I wanted a kimono and she read my mind! I had something a little different in mind, but this kimono was still very cool.  I ended up keeping it, but haven’t worn it yet.  I can’t seem to find an occasion to wear it (can’t wear to work).

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 3 – Market & Spruce Colibri Plaid Henley Top ($48)

untitled3

This shirt is me.  My husband loved it on me, so it was a no brainer to keep.  How can you go wrong with plaid in the fall??

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 4 –  Kut from the Kloth Simmon Bootcut Jean ($88)

untitled2

These felt so SOFT. However, they were WAY too long and were a little snug.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 –  41 Hawthorn Sena Bar Back Blouse ($58)

untitled

The color of this top is amazing.  However, there was a small pleat in the front.  For a busty girl like me, it ended up being unflattering.

Verdict: Return

Overall Impression

Sizing was pretty good this time, but just didn’t love all the pieces.  My bank account thanks me for that!

Can’t wait to see what I get next time! I’ve asked for a “fall” fix!

Item Number 1 –  Pixley Stacey Scallop Hem Cut-Out Detail Skirt  ($64)

untitled5

I wanted this to work so bad because the skirt was adorable! But it was far too tight.  The scalloped hem was adorable and it had a great texture.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 – Market & Spruce Dollie Tie Back Neck Knit Top ($54)

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep this because it was a heavier sweater material.  But hey, fall is coming eventually. I loved that it was super comfortable and very simple, but had just a touch of detail with the ribbon in the back.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 3 – 41Hawthorn Liano Mixed Material Top ($54)

untitled4

I loved the pattern of this top.  Unfortunately, it was a bit snug and was a little too unflattering to my tummy.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 4 –  Le Lis Tearly Scoop Neck Blouse ($44)

untitled

This shirt is so comfortable and flowy.  If I could have one of these in every color imaginable please! This will be a great shirt when I head off to Vegas.   Nice enough to look put together, but still very comfortable and cool.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 5 –  41 Hawthorn Kellan Tie Front Blouse ($58)

untitled1

I wasn’t sure about this when I first pulled it out.  I’m busty and don’t really need to call more attention to it….which tie front blouses normally do.  But I loved the olive color and loved the detail at the bottom.

Verdict: Keep (I’ve already worn it and gotten a bunch of compliments!)

Overall Impression

I kept three pieces, which was pretty good.  Still a few misses on the sizing, but she’s really got my style down!

Can’t wait to see what I get next time!

Item Number 1 –  TOMS Zoe Chambray Sandals  ($59)

10007913_Chambray_BrownCHAMBRAY_SUEDEWomenZOESANDAL_top-1450x1015_NEWIMAGE

These are the neutral sandals I asked for! She didn’t even know how much I love TOMS shoes.  I loved them right out of the box and knew I’d be keeping them.  These are so much nicer than grabbing flip flops all the time!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 2 – ARATTA Milicent Split Back Top ($54)

untitled1

This top was beautiful!  I pulled it out of the box and fell in love with the cotton and the light feel.  I was a little worried that the front would be too short, and I was right.  I’m busty, so shirts that are designed to be shorter in the front often become really short on me.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Skies are Blue Morvan Cross Back Top ($48)

untitled3

I had asked for this shirt in a bigger size after it was too small in my last fix.  It was too small again. I think the bust is just cut really narrow in this top.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 4 –  Daniel Rainn Ronan Crochet Detail Blouse ($37)

untitled2

This top was beautiful and delicate and it looked perfect for work! However it had a bit of a peplum look to it, and it hit my curves in all the wrong spots.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 –  Collective Concepts Umali V-Neck Blouse  ($48)

untitled

I loved this top when I pulled it out of the box! Sadly, it was way too snug in the bust.

Verdict: Return

Overall Impression

When I opened this box, I thought I would be keeping all of it.  Sadly the sizing/fit was off on all of the clothes, and the only thing I kept were the shoes.

She’s super spot on with the style, but we are still working on the fit.

Better luck next time!

June Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #19)

Item Number 1 –   Skies are Blue Morvan Cross Back Top ($48)

I loved this top, in fact, I pinned it on my Pinterest board.  She mentioned that in her note.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t even get it over my chest. I asked her to send me a bigger size in my next fix if she has one.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 – Market & Spruce Char Geo Print Maxi Skirt  ($58)

I don’t think I’m cut out for maxi skirts.  I think they make my legs look really short….there is something off about my proportions when I wear them.  I do appreciate my stylists attempt to try them again…its a trend I wish worked on me!

untitled4

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Pixley Madrella Slouchy Boyfriend Knit Tank ($38)

This tank was extremely long and thin.  It wasn’t very flattering.  I was a little surprised by the price too.  It was the quality of something I could get at Target for $10.

untitled2

Verdict: Return

Item Number 4 –  Fun2Fun Katniss Crochet Yoke Top ($44)

I liked this top a lot.  Nice and flowy, like I prefer, but with enough detail that its not too boring.  I like the crochet across the top.

untitled

Verdict: Keep

**I ended up getting a refund for this one because it shrunk after one wash (I followed directions!)

Item Number 5 –  Pixley Dardie Lace Inset Blouse  ($58)

This was a very beautiful top.  I loved the lace detail and the color.  However, it was a little too dressy for me to wear casually, and the lace cutout in the front was way too low to be appropriate for work.

 untitled3

Verdict: Return

Overall Impression

I have mixed feelings about this box.  She did give me tops like I asked for, but some of them just didn’t work.  I don’t think maxi skirts are for me, so I hope I don’t get more.  It was just an ok box for me.

Still waiting for that perfect box that I keep all 5 items!

For my next fix I’ve asked her to keep giving me a bunch of tanks/short sleeve shirts that are very flowy and loose for summer.  I’ll be going to Vegas in late August and would love some new stuff for the trip! I also asked for some neutral sandals to wear with summer dresses.

Item Number 1 –  Bay to Baubles Rosaline Layered Lariat Necklace ($28)

untitled4

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 –  Gilli Kathleen Printed Maxi Skirt ($58)

untitled

I have been wanting to try a maxi skirt for awhile, but since I’m more curvy up top, they seem to look really unbalanced on me.  This was no exception.  I didn’t love the pattern of this one either.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Papermoon Waters Knit Maxi Dress ($68)

untitled2

I’m obsessed with this dress.  I cannot wait to wear it.  It is so soft and comfortable.  Its exactly what you’d want out of a maxi dress.  The pattern looks to be a bit wild here, but its actually really nice.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 4 –  Daniel Rainn Arcelia Cross Front Top ($58)

untitled3

Surprisingly, this top was a bit big.  I like that she sent me more navy clothing after my feedback about not normally choosing to wear that color.  It just wasn’t terribly flattering on me, and my husband didn’t love it.  And you know, if the husband doesn’t love it….

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 –  Le Lis Terresa V-Neck Dress  ($78)

untitled1

This was a surprise for me.  I didn’t love the pattern right out of the box.  But it turned out to be flattering with my dark hair.  I also love the length.  Its just at the knee, so I could wear it to work.

Verdict: Keep

Overall Impression

My stylist did pay close attention to my Pinterest board.  She also paid a lot of attention to my feedback.  The last maxi I got didn’t have enough give, this one does.  Even though not every item is a keeper, she gets me to consider trying new things, which is kind of the point of this whole thing, right?

Still waiting for that perfect box that I keep all 5 items!

For my next fix I’ve asked her for a bunch of tanks/short sleeve shirts that are very flowy and loose for summer.  I’ll be going to Vegas in late August and would love some new stuff for the trip!

April Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #17)

I say this every time: I know this is outside of my normal fitness/running blogging, but hey – its my blog, and I want to blog about my awesome clothes!

What I love about this is that I get a stylist that looks at my style profile and picks out items just for ME.  You can even link to a pinterest board so they can get inspiration and a better look into what you like.

Item Number 1 – Yosi Samra Samara Metallic Ballet Flats ($89)

I asked my stylist for gold flats for a wedding I’m in and she delivered!  I was hoping she did, cause I need to wear them soon! I’m loving the addition of shoes to their repertoire!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 2 – Just Black Adorra Skinny Jean ($88)

IMG_4218

OMG MINT JEANS. I was super excited when I pulled them out of the box.  MINT GREEN JEANS.  Can you tell I like mint green? However, they were too small 😦

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Brixon Ivy Athena Crochet Sleeve Blouse ($54)

IMG_4216

This was a little different than I would have normally picked out for myself.  However, it is perfect for work.  It matches the Kendra Scott jewelry I just got too!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 4 – Pixley Eileen Honeycomb Texture Knit Tank ($54)

IMG_4217

This was the same pattern as the dress I got in my last fix.  I almost thought she sent me the dress again! However, it was a tank! It super soft and comfy and I can’t wait to wear it!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 5 –  Renee C Kaleia Maxi Dress ($78)

IMG_4215

I wanted so badly for this dress to work out.  I had asked for a maxi and the pattern and color was so cute!  But the bottom of the dress was a little narrow and my poor hips didn’t fit well!

Verdict: Return

Overall Impression

Had the sizing worked out, I would have kept everything in the box. EVERYTHING.  But, I’ve learned not to keep anything that doesn’t fit right, or you won’t wear it!

If my stylist is on point with the next box like this one…and all the sizing works out…I might be to the point where I keep EVERYTHING.  I’d love it!

March Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #16)

untitled

I say this every time: I know this is outside of my normal fitness/running blogging, but hey – its my blog, and I want to blog about my awesome clothes!  I forgot to take pictures before I sent everything back!

What I love about this is that I get a stylist that looks at my style profile and picks out items just for ME.  You can even link to a pinterest board so they can get inspiration and a better look into what you like.

Item Number 1 – Kut from The Kloth Siena Cropped Pant ($58)

untitled5

I tried to like these, I promise.  I wanted to give them a try. I would NEVER pick out a pair of pink pants.  I did like the color and the fit, but I just don’t look good in cropped pants.  They make my legs look too short.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 – Renee C Samera Pintuck Detail Blouse ($54)

untitled1

This item was a pleasant surprise.  It is a bit different than things I normally wear.  Its a bit see through, but its got this great texture and detail to it that I just loved.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 3 – 41Hawthorn Hendrix V-Neck Blouse ($58)

untitled4

My stylist knows I cannot resist a loose flowy blouse.  The color is amazing and it is so soft and comfortable.  Huge win.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 4 – Pixley Millie Textured Dress ($68)

untitled2

This dress was pretty cute! I don’t normally gravitate toward navy blue, but I thought I’d give it a try.  I know the cut is supposed to be flattering, but it didn’t flatter my midsection.  I wish it had worked out because it would have been great for work!

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 – Skies are Blue Olina Embroidered V Neck Top ($54)

untitled3

My husband loves this top on me.  Perfect shirt for the summer, provides full coverage so it is appropriate in all settings, but still cute!

Verdict: Keep

Overall Impression

This box was much better than the last.  I really did like everything she sent me, but I didn’t like the fit of the pants and dress.  They just introduced shoes to their offerings, so I will probably ask for some shoes the next go around!

February Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #15)

I say this every time: I know this is outside of my normal fitness/running blogging, but hey – its my blog, and I want to blog about my awesome clothes!  I actually managed to take semi real pictures this time! You should be proud!

What I love about this is that I get a stylist that looks at my style profile and picks out items just for ME.  You can even link to a pinterest board so they can get inspiration and a better look into what you like.

Item Number 1 – Bay to Baubles Maebry Multi-Strand Necklace  ($34)

untitled1

I had asked my stylist for a rose gold necklace (but not yellow gold – not a fan).  She admitted that she couldn’t find rose gold for me, but tried an antique gold necklace.  The shape was nice, I liked it…but didn’t like the color!

Verdict: Return

Item Number 2 – Papermoon Dillin V Neck Knit Top ($48)

untitled2

This shirt looked really cheap.  It was one of those shirts you could get at Target for $8…but yet it was here in my box for $48.  It was also very unflattering and showed every curve and bump!

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Brixon Ivy Willard Lace Overlay Blouse ($54)

untitled3

I liked this shirt a lot when I saw in in my box.  The color was great and detail was lovely.  I wasn’t a huge fan of the solid black back (instead of being blue like the rest of the shirt), but since I figured I’d be wearing it under a blazer, it would be ok.

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 4 – 41Hawthorn McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse ($48)

untitled

I really liked this top when I pulled it out of the box.  The color was great and the lace sleeves were a nice detail.  However, it was much too tight in the bust, and too short.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 – Bobeau Shawnly Printed Knit Top ($58)

untitled4

This item was ok out of the box.  It felt really casual – and I had asked for work tops.  But I decided to give it a try.  It fit fine, it just didn’t feel like something I would wear.

Verdict: Return

Overall Impression

I would say this box was just ok.  There were two tops I loved, but only one fit.  The other two tops were a complete miss.  She did make a valiant attempt with the necklace…it just simply fell short. Generally speaking, I really do like my stylist and most everything she sends me! This box was just a little “off.”

I think I need to be more specific in what I pin on my pinterest board.  I think I’m not giving her enough “pinspiration.”

January Stitch Fix Review (Stitch Fix #14)

I say this every time: I know this is outside of my normal fitness/running blogging, but hey – its my blog, and I want to blog about my awesome clothes!  I actually managed to take semi real pictures this time! You should be proud!

What I love about this is that I get a stylist that looks at my style profile and picks out items just for ME.  You can even link to a pinterest board so they can get inspiration and a better look into what you like.

Item Number 1 – Liverpool Rizzo Skinny Pant ($98)

I didn’t think it was possible for a stylist to be able to send me pants that fit.  Pants are so hard to get right, aren’t they? These pants are amazing.  I neglected to take a picture of them, but they are stretch black skinny pants. The length is PERFECT, no hemming needed. I kept them even though my husband might kill me for the cost.

Verdict:  Keep

Item Number 2 – Market & Spruce Wilco Solid Quilted Vest ($68)

untitled1

*The color is off in this picture.  This should be an olive green!*

I’ve been searching for a good vest, and this one fit the bill.  It is very comfortable, well made, and looks great on.  The olive green color would not be something I would normally go for, but it looks good with my complexion and my dark hair. I decided to keep!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 3 – Crescent Arminta Crochet Detail Tunic ($54)

untitled3

I hated this shirt right from the get go.  Its just totally not me. The print, the shape, everything. Oh well!

Verdict: Return

Item Number 4 – Pixley Amboy Raglan Sleeve Trapeze Knit Top ($48)

untitled2

I wasn’t sure about this top. I tried to keep an open mind when I tried it on, but it just wasn’t flattering at all.  The hem of the shirt was just a strange profile for me.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 5 – Pixley Ivy Split Neck Print Blouse ($58)

untitled

So got this shirt in my 3rd stitch fix – March of last year.  My stylist remembered it and sent it to me in a bigger size! Yay!  I love it and I’m so happy to see it again 🙂

Verdict: Keep

Overall Impression

I would say this box was overall good.  My stylist sent me a blast from the past that I really loved.  She hit it out of the park with some PERFECT pants, and did a great job sending me a vest that I love.  The tunic was the only huge miss, as the raglan sleeve top had potential.

I find there is a tricky balance between cost and quality/fit of the items.  If I ask her to go cheaper, I find I don’t tend to like what she sends me.  If the prices increase, then the possibilities open up, and I get some really great pieces.

Despite the fact that I don’t keep everything (if I did, my husband not be a happy camper!), I really do like my stylist and most everything she sends me! The sizing has gotten much better, and almost everything fits now!

This is the second time I’ve asked my stylist for an infinity scarf.  I liked it, it was incredibly warm, but I just didn’t love it. I couldn’t justify $28 for a scarf I didn’t love, when I have a closet stuffed full of scarves.

Verdict:  Return

Item Number 2 – Romolo Branson Metal Fringe Necklace ($34)

untitled

I asked my stylist for a versatile necklace that was neutral in color so that I could wear it with many different items.  This necklace did fit the bill, but it was a bit too modern for me.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 3 – Skies are Blue Lasalle Cross Front Blouse ($48)

untitled4

I love the color of this shirt and was super impressed with this pick from my stylist.  However, something about the fit was just a bit “off.”  It was tight in the upper arms (something I usually don’t have an issue with).  I liked it, but couldn’t justify keeping something that didn’t fit.

Verdict: Return

Item Number 4 – Ezra Eleanor Mixed Material Knit Top ($38)

untitled2untitled3

I had to show a picture of the back of this top.  Its beautiful. This was a bit of a surprise to me.  Its not something I typically gravitate toward, but I really liked it. Its hard to tell in the picture, but the shirt is navy. Navy is not a normal color for me…all the more reason to get it!

Verdict: Keep

Item Number 5 – RD Style Maureen Twisted Seam Elbow Patch Sweater ($64)

untitled5

I pinned many sweaters like this on my pinterest board, and my stylist took note.  I love it! The husband didn’t get why this is so cool, but I just love the leather elbow patch.  The sweater is super comfy and I couldn’t resist!

Verdict: Keep

Overall Impression

I liked most everything in this box.  I appreciated my stylist finding items she thought I’d enjoy. I didn’t end up keeping the two things that I pointedly had requested, but I love that she really made an effort to find items I’d love.  I love the surprise of the sweater from my pinterest boards.

Despite the fact that I don’t keep everything, I really do like my stylist and most everything she sends me! The sizing has gotten much better, and almost everything fits now!
